Local Government Boundary Commission Consultation
The Local Government Boundary Commission for England have commissioned an electoral review of Doncaster. The review has two main considerations:
Before the formal start of the review, the Commission asked the council to put forward its views and Thorne and Moorends Town Council committed itself to making strong representations in an attempt to bring Thorne and Moorends back together under one electoral ward area. Councillors Houlbrook, (J) Blackham and (S) Durant attended a consultation meeting and brought a report back to the Council. Subsequently, on 9 July 2013, it was agreed that the Town Council would propose a reduction in the total number of DMBC Councillors across the borough and propose electoral boundary changes to re-unite Thorne with Moorends. You can see the Town Council's submissions here. For more information see LGBC Technical Guidance, LCBC Council Size Guidance or visit the LGBC website. |
UPDATE!The Boundary Commission has extended the period for consultation to 26 October 2014 and their final recommendations are expected to be released in November 2014.
You will note that it is proposed that Thorne and Moorends are reunited as an electoral ward and this is not expected to change. We expect positive news for the community on release of the Boundary Commissions final recommendations. |
