"The Town Council have put the improvement of the Moorends Recreation Ground as a high priority, and we are pleased to be able to begin to work with the local Sports Clubs who are also keen to deliver improvements. In the short-term we have begun to carry out a number of improvements to make the current facilities more suitable for their current purpose. However I am keen to see the area become a much greater asset for the local community, including the reintroduction of events and galas that were popular in the past."

Fingers Crossed!

At the end of March 2013 it was agreed that an application for funding would be submitted to Sport England's Inspired Facilities Fund. The Application was submitted on 24 April 2013 and if successful, the funding will allow the Town Council to make some much needed improvements to a facility, which has been neglected for years. 

The Town Council hope that the improvements will add to the works that have been done on the pavilion over the last 18 months, to make the building safe and fit for purpose whilst a vision is created for a complete regeneration project. If successful, funded works will include:

1. Repair of 2 shower rooms
2. Provision of an additional shower room
3. New doors & Installation of extractor fans
4. Refurbishment of toilets
5. Replacement of front & side doors
6. Re-Plastering and floor re-surfacing
7. Front area paving improvements

The Council expect to hear from the funding body regarding the outcome of their application in the next few weeks. Please come back to find out if the Council have been successful.
