Have your sayThe final draft of the Thorne and Moorends Neighbourhood Plan has been prepared and there is now a final opportunity for local people to comment. It is available to view here. The Plan has been prepared using the views of the local community that have been obtained through 2 previous rounds of formal consultation. This last round of consultation aims to make sure that it accurately reflects the views expressed. The plan includes policies on housing, employment, environment, community facilities and transport. Once approved it will give Thorne and Moorends a much greater say in planning decisions that affect our communities. It has been prepared by a Working Group that includes Town Council and community members. |
How you can commentAny comments on the Plan can be sent using the online form on the website, or to the Town Council at the Assembly Rooms, Fieldside, Thorne, DN8 4AE – jeremy@thorne-moorends.gov.uk Comments must be received by 12th December 2016. A number of drop in sessions are also being held as follows where members of the steering group will be in attendance: Monday 7th November 10am-12noon – Thorne Library Wednesday 16th November 4pm-6pm - Moorends Northgate Community Centre (Front Room) Friday 18th November 10am-12noon – Thorne Market Place Tuesday 22nd November 7pm-9pm – Band Room, Thorne Tuesday 29th November – 10am-12noon – Winning Post, Moorends |
What happens next?
The comments from this consultation will be considered and the Plan amended as necessary. It will then be submitted to Doncaster MBC for the final approval stage, including an independent inspection, and referendum. This will take place in 2017.
Most of Thorne and Moorends lies within Flood Zone 3 Risk Areas. Due to the vast amount of additional work required to allocate these sites for priority development, the steering group has not allocated sites. This means that the location of future housing and business would be decided by DMBC via their Local Plan.
The Steering group is not shying away from hard work and if the community would prefer to see sites for future development allocated by this Neighbourhood Plan, which would then be binding upon DMBC, then we are prepared to conduct that additional work and bring the Plan back for consultation thereafter.
